The Ultimate Tabata Training Guide
Four minutes. That's all a true Tabata takes. But if you are doing it correctly, those four minutes will be the hardest part of your day.
PERFECT YOUR INTERVALS
Don't guess when 20 seconds is up. The RIFT Tabata timer gives you precise audio and visual cues.

Developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata, this protocol is a form of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). It consists of 8 rounds of ultra-high-intensity exercises in a specific 20-seconds-on, 10-seconds-off interval.
How to Survive a Tabata
The goal is maximum effort during the 20 seconds of work.
- Choose explosive movements: Sprinting, rowing, thrusters, or burpees work best.
- Go all out: If you are holding back to save energy for round 8, you aren't doing a Tabata.
- Embrace the 10 seconds: The 10-second rest will feel like 2 seconds by the 5th round. Accept it.
Setup is easy. Just select Tabata mode on your Tabata timer and go.
